Hiking on the Hawaii Loa Ridge Trail in Hawaii

Kyle and I heard about this really cool hike to go on if you have a Hawaii drivers license. Well, since we do, we figured we better check it out. I don't know if we were quite prepared for this though! It was definitely beautiful, but the last mile and a half was basically straight up.

The point at the very middle is where we started

The point at the very middle here is where we ended - it was 5 miles round trip! What were we thinking!!?

Hottie!!

This is a view of Honolulu from the top of the ridge we were on.
Ending off with a beautiful sunset and a beautiful tree named "I'm so glad I don't have legs after watching you guys struggle up that hike!!"

Twilight

So, I read the book (only the first one so far) and I couldn't wait to go see the movie when it came out tonight. However - I do wish that we wouldn't have gone to it on opening night after having to sit through all of the screaming teenage girls throughout the movie! Wow! Those girls are exciteable young things!

It was pretty good though and like people always say, "The book is always better" was proven true again! Looks like it's time to read the sequel! Thanks to Nathalie for recommending it. Kyle and I always love a good book!

Sunsets in Hawaii...I love the clouds!

Monk Seals

These are monk seals. They swam up onto the shore on the beach by our apartment. These are one of the most endangered species in the world. It is crazy to see all of this wild life just swim up onto shores and take naps! Never seen that in Utah or Minnesota before!

SHARKS!!!

This is us at Waimea Bay in Hawaii a couple of weeks ago. One picture is facing the bay and the other is facing the bridge that is the road that goes around the bay. The DAY after we were there it was reported on a local online news site, that 5 SHARKS were found in this same bay...the NEXT DAY! AAAhhhhhhh! Talk about frightening!

"Ho-know-loo-loo"

This is in front of the city of Honolulu at night. In the Hawaiian language, the city of Honolulu is pronounced "Ho-know-loo-loo". Kyle and I hear it pronounced that way on the radio and think it's wierd b/c we're used to "Hon-o-loo-loo". :)

The Turtles!
